Approach
My approach is compassionate, practical, and individualized. I believe therapy should be a place where you can be yourself, feel heard and supported, and talk openly about what is happening in your life without fear of judgment.

You are the expert on your own experiences. My role is to help you better understand what you are experiencing, identify what may be getting in the way, recognize your strengths, and develop tools that can help you move toward the changes you want to make.

I also enjoy teaching practical skills that you can use outside of therapy, whether that means learning to manage overwhelming emotions, communicate more effectively, solve problems, set healthy boundaries, or cope with difficult situations.

Therapy looks different for everyone. We will work together to identify your goals and develop an approach that fits your individual needs, strengths, experiences, and stage of life.

Services Offered
At Open Gate Therapy, I provide individualized mental health services for children, teens, adults, couples, parents, and families. I believe therapy should be practical, approachable, and tailored to the person sitting in front of me…..not a one-size-fits-all process.
Whether you are looking for support for your child, struggling through a difficult season yourself, feeling disconnected in your relationship, or simply recognizing that something needs to change, we will start where you are and work together toward where you would like to go.
I provide services in person in Columbus, Nebraska, as well as through telehealth for clients throughout Nebraska. I also have experience working within school settings and understand many of the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals and families living in rural communities.

My goal is to provide a supportive and welcoming space where clients feel comfortable being themselves while working toward meaningful change.

How Therapy Works
Therapy is a confidential and collaborative process. You do not need to come into your first appointment knowing exactly what is wrong, what you want to work on, or even where to begin.

We will start by talking about what has been happening in your life, what brought you to therapy, and what you would like to be different. Together, we will identify goals for therapy and begin developing a plan for how we can work toward them.

Some sessions may involve talking through experiences or emotions, while others may focus more on learning and practicing specific coping, communication, emotional regulation, parenting, or problem-solving skills.
For children and teens, therapy may also include age-appropriate activities, play, games, creative approaches, skill building, and caregiver involvement when helpful.
As therapy progresses, we will continue checking in on what is working, what may need to change, and the progress you are making toward your goals.
